About the Caspian horse.
If you love small horses, you might try the Caspian on for size. Standing approximately 11 to 12 hands high, it evolved to be small, naturally adapting to a harsh mountain terrain along the west side of the Caspian Sea around northern Iran.
The Caspian horse is currently the only known true Persian horse breed that exists outside of Iran. A small number of these special little horses were exported in the late twentieth century before Iran was under international sanctions. Those horses were the start of breeding programs established in Europe, Australasia, and North America. However, despite best efforts, the Caspian horse still remains rare, with few foals born each year.
